What can we learn about skincare from Barbie...
I don’t know about you, but this mom went and saw the Barbie movie the day after opening night. Let’s be honest Barbie dominated the 80s (if you are an 80s baby like me). As I was watching the live screen Barbie, I realized there were some key takeaways that we can consider in our daily lives as moms:
Barbie didn’t age - or so we thought. She just had a really good skincare routine – including great anti-aging products. Want to invest in a really good skincare routine too….make sure that you are cleansing, using a toner/face mist, serums and moisturizing in the morning and nightly. Using a broad-spectrum SPF of at least 30 each morning and re-applying every two hours and using a clay mask at least once a week and a hydration mask at least 1-3 times per week. You should also be exfoliating at least once a week. There are some great Luvurlōk Beauty Bar products that can help you with your skincare goals.
Barbie made time for herself. I mean how else could she have had like a million professions and still look good. Barbie made sure to dedicate time to herself. She made herself the priority and then looked after everyone after. I mean how can you love everyone else when you are unable to love on yourself. Sometimes you just gotta put yourself first. Oh and she also did that with her skincare routine. I think she told Ken to take a hike at around 7:00 nightly and took time to rejuvenate her skin. Which brings me to point #3…
Barbie had very clear boundaries for her kids (remember her one baby and then her toddler – anybody…?). Barbie still accomplished so many things and had a baby and a toddler AND She still looked super fantastic. See point 2 on boundaries for Ken, this can also be applied to children.
Barbie went to her skincare specialist regularly. We may be digging deep in the vault for this one, but did anyone have the Barbie spa package set? … If so, then you saw that Barbie had all the spa fixings. Wanna know who can give you that, your friendly neighbourhood skincare specialist or esthetician. Don’t think you can make the time, see points 2 and 3.
Lastly, Barbie started skin cycling. Not sure what skin cycling is, this is where you contact me to learn more about skin cycling and how you can incorporate Barbie points 1-4. Investing in our skin is not vanity, it’s sanity because it’s the largest organ in our body and if we are going to wear it, we should wear it well – and what YOU consider well.
